I've laid in the basic elk, and a little bit of an idea, but need to figure out where to go from here. This painting is 8X10 inch, on canvas. I started it with watercolor, to place basic colors and draw the elk onto the support. I've now moved on to acrylics and covered most of the painting over with some under layers.
More to follow later!

I would have thought this was actually finished!
ReplyDeleteI'll probably ruin him if I keep going. Maybe I should stop now. lol Thanks Ciel! I want to finish the horns, and find some way to balance him out with something that's behind him. Also the fall foliage is pretty weak at this stage. Might add some branches etc to it. Then I think I'll knock the background back with some glazes of blue so it seems further behind him.
ReplyDeleteDonna, your reply about ruining your elk if you kept going, reminded of me of something I read once -- that art takes two people (or two mindsets in the head of the artist): one to do the work, and one to holler "STOP!" That is the dilemma, isn't it? When to holler at yourself to quit messing with it. I really like the mood you are creating in this piece. Bon chance!
